How is Gender Diversity connected with the business success oF UBS?

At UBS, diversity, equity and inclusion is an important part of our purpose of reimagining the power of investing and connecting people for a better world. In our experience, diverse teams better understand and relate to our equally diverse clients and their needs. For example, 33% of global personal investable wealth today is controlled by women – and this number is increasing

Our economic research has shown that teams with different backgrounds and experiences drive innovation and better decision making, directly impacting our business success. So, we have set ourselves aspirational diversity goals to further enhance our team dynamics.

what are your three most successful measures to balance the gender representation in management?

At UBS, we have a global and systematic approach to increasing gender diversity in management. Firstly, we hold ourselves accountable through having set the aspirational goal to reach 30% female representation globally in our senior management ranks by the end of 2025.

Secondly, we want all employees to feel confident that our processes are fair and that we pay equitably. This is why we are equal salary certified not only in Switzerland, but in multiple countries across the globe.

And thirdly, we have employee networks in Switzerland focused on the development of our female employees, including offering our male employees the opportunity to actively participate in driving gender equality.

Why did ubs choose THE artwork «denkmal»? What message would you like to convey to employees and beyond?

This artwork highlights the importance of visibility and recognizing women for their achievements. We want people to know that a core pillar of our DE&I strategy focuses on providing employees the visibility and opportunities to realize their unique potential. We focus on the levers of hire, develop and retain to increase the representation of women in senior management roles.

One example of this is our career comeback program where we recognize the “invisible” aspects of a CV and see a career break as a source of transferable skills. Additionally, all returners are supported in their transition back to a corporate environment to set them up for success.
