Laura-Marie Töpfer is the Sustainability Area Leader for Microsoft Western Europe (WE). She is responsible for designing and implementing the Area’s commercial Sustainability strategy.
In collaboration with the University of Oxford and PWC, Laura-Marie led the launch of Microsoft WE’s first “Data & AI for Sustainable Business” Skilling Programme, which empowers people and businesses to connect the dots between AI, Risk Management and Green Value Creation. Before joining Microsoft, she was a Partner at investment firm Extantia Capital, which was awarded “Best Impact Investor of the Year” by Germany’s Sovereign Fund. Laura-Marie previously served at the World Economic Forum, where she was a founding team member of UpLink, a digital platform to scale the best sustainable innovations. She serves as a board member and advisor to ESG rating platform BeZero, investment firm Social Impact Capital and was recognised for her work by Startup Basecamp’s list of the 20 Leaders driving the Future of Climate Technology.
With a combined background in technology investing and sustainability, Laura-Marie is committed to unlocking the power of technology to tackle the world’s toughest sustainability challenges. Her mantra: Fixing our planet is simply good business. Laura-Marie lives in Zurich with her husband and enjoys spending time outdoors reconnecting with nature, horse-riding or painting at the local art studio to put her ideas on canvas.
