How I got here
“let’s use our voice, go vote and change what we can change in our daily life to reach equality.“
Lea Lu, singer – song writer – musician
What was your dream career as
a girl?
I wanted to become a philosopher. Since I was a young child, I was very curious about big questions in life, as “where do we come from?” or “how big is the universe?”. Today I am a singer and composer. In a way there is a philosophical aspect in the way I work, as I also work in topics of sometimes complex situations in life and questions around it. From all these thoughts, feelings and impressions, I try to extract the essence and put it in a melody and song lyrics that I later share with my audience.
What was your aha-moment when you realized that gender stereotypes may (or do) have an impact on your career development?
How did you deal with it?
My aha moment was when I got to know that women earn less for the same work as men. This is unacceptable, especially in a democracy where I live.
What is your number 1 advice for career aspiring women?
Use your voice, speak up if there is unjustice. And support women around you and in your work field. I think we can change something if we start to integrate our ideas of equality by living them in daily life.
