How I got here
“Be prepared. Be curious. Don’t ask for permission“

What was your dream career as a girl?
I grew up in a family of small entrepreneurs. From early on I was fascinated by my father’s abilities to turn pretty much any circumstance into an opportunity and to decide quickly. During my studies I got increasingly interested in Finance and numbers – but I knew that I’d like to have a job that allowed me to take decisions and have an impact.
What was your aha-moment when you realized that gender stereotypes may (or do) have an impact on your career development?
How did you deal with it?
I was 25 and it was my first serious job interview. The interviewer asked me whether I have a boyfriend and any family plans. I gave a polite answer and saw him making a note on my CV. To be fair, they still made me an offer – but I doubt the question would have come up, had I been a male candidate.
Since then, there have been so many other aha-moments; but my reaction has changed.
What is your number 1 advice for career aspiring women?
Stay true to yourself, be authentic and don’t try to fit into leadership models created by others.
