Many people reject power because they equate it to control, dominance or force. But the word power is in itself neutral, coming from the Latin ‘potere’ meaning to be able to ‘DO’ i.e. having the creative freedom to make things happen.
Do you have great ideas to advance your company but are sometimes at a standstill as to how to do this? If so, this workshop is for you.
You don’t have to switch to the dark side of power to make change happen nor be on the receiving end of it. On the contrary: you can develop a sense of personal power and work out your own strategy to assert yourself.
Even in the political landscape of corporate life, you can influence many without letting yourself be seduced by an outdated view of power. Do not let yourself be toyed with anymore. Play your own game.
Outcomes
You will
- learn how to navigate the micropolitical landscape – for the benefit of yourself, your ideas and and others
- take a power audit – how influential are you?
- define, build, expand and defend your own personal power
- recognize and eliminate manipulation tactics
- avoid the seduction of power and maintain your integrity
- use power positively for mutual benefit
- learn ways to empower your team
Target Audience
- Exclusively for female managers
- Mid-level high potential female managers with at least 8 years of working experience
- Max. 22 participants from different Advance member companies
Format
- One-day workshop, 9:00 – 17:00, will include multiple short breaks in morning and afternoon with 1 hour for lunch
- One credit per participant. Additional credits can be bought for 1’300 CHF per participant

Andrea Och ist eine international gefragte Karrieresparringspartnerin. Ihre eigene Karriere startete sie in der Industrie und wechselte nach 6 Jahren zu einer Top-Unternehmensberatung. Dort nahm sie in drei Jahren vier Hierarchiestufen und wirkte als jüngste Bereichsleiterin der Märkte Versicherungen und Gesundheitswesen.
Vor 20 Jahren gründete sie OCH CONSULTING – Personal Branding. Ihr Ziel: Frauen den Weg in Spitzenpositionen zu ebnen. Mit individuellen Personal Branding-, Netzwerk- und Mikropolitik-Strategien.
Für ihre erfolgreiche Arbeit wurde sie mit dem Innovationspreis für Beratung ausgezeichnet.
2012 wurde sie als erste Frau in den Wirtschaftsrat der European Business School berufen.
2013 veröffentlichte sie „Lust auf Macht – wie (nicht nur) Frauen an die Spitze kommen“, von dem das Manager Magazin sagte, hier können auch Männer noch lernen.
Andrea Och ist glücklich verheiratet, hat eine erwachsene Tochter und lebt in Hamburg.
